“Packaged under modified atmosphere” is what you read on these well-closed meat packs. This refers to a process called MAP for short (= modified atmosphere package), and which requires mandatory labelling in the EU. To retain the durability, taste and good looks of this easily perishable good the package is first vacuumised. Then an inert gas mixture which is not detrimental to health is added. Depending on the foodstuff this shield gas contains varying proportions of oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen.

drupa 2020 Dates Brought Forward by 1 Week: World’s most important trade fair for printing technologies will be held from 16 to 26 June 2020

The dates of the world’s most important trade fair for printing technologies will be brought forward by one week: drupa is to take place now from Tuesday, 16 June, to Friday, 26 June 2020. This was agreed by the drupa Committee and Messe Düsseldorf at their meeting on 15 February 2017. The key argument for this decision was the fact that in some European countries as well as German states the summer holidays would have already started during the initially planned dates (23 June to 3 July 2020). By changing the dates Messe Düsseldorf is responding to requests voiced by both exhibitors and visitors alike.

NPES and VDMA Release “Worldwide Market For Print 2.0 – Packaging” Study

According to the new study, total world packaging revenues grew from $231 billion ($U.S.) in 2011 to $242 billion in 2015, and between 2015 and 2020 print packaging global revenues are projected to grow by 18% or $44 billion to $286 billion in 2020. Notably in 2015, 78% of total global print packaging revenues was concentrated in the top five markets comprised of the U.S., China, Japan, Germany and the U.K., however, the largest share and fastest pace of future growth will be recognized in emerging nations, primarily in the Asia-Pacific region.

Package printing provides positive outlook for global print market in 2017

A recent study conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit was encouraging for the future of the print industry as a whole. Titled "World-wide Market for Print: Identifying Global Opportunities for the Print Industry", the study expects the global print market to reach US$ 668 billion in 2017, which is 20% greater than its size of US$557 billion in 2007. Package printing, business and transactional printing and publishing will top the charts in terms of market growth in coming years.
